January 1992, Granada.

Marine biologist, activist, and artist.

From a very young age, I felt a deep devotion to the ocean. I dreamed of exploring it and studying cetaceans, always with the firm idea that my path would be marine biology.

While waiting for that dream to come true, I spent hours drawing, often seascapes and orcas, my first great love. At school, I was known as the girl who drew whales. The sea was far from home, and drawing was my way of getting closer to it and, in part, of projecting my future. At the time, I could not have imagined that one day I would be doing both professionally.

During my teenage years, I discovered the art of photography and digital editing. Painting took a back seat for a long time. I first used an SLR camera when I was 16. I remember spending sleepless nights learning how to edit photographs with the few resources available at the time. That’s when Akris was born. I started sharing my photos on blogs and doing some work as a photographer. I had discovered a great hobby that, to this day, remains one of my favourite pastimes. I started out doing artistic photography and portraits, and over the years I have been fortunate enough to document numerous trips around the world and photograph incredible animals.

My career as a scientist has led me to live and work in various places and countries and to fulfil my childhood dream: working with cetaceans.

Nowadays, I combine my professional career as a marine biologist with art.
